Techgnosis Records presents “Luzoba,” an absolutely fantastic EP from German producer, Trilingo. The lush, sweeping synth pads and big, bright bass swells that are heard throughout make for a truly massive sounding production. The vibe is minimal, yet hard-hitting, and the grooves are punctuated by deep, heavy kick drums. The title track is big, dirty, and has a totally badass melodic hook that comes in about halfway through. “Znot,” the other original track by Trilingo is aggressive and methodical, and makes use of a vocal sample, mixing things up a bit. The creeping, crawling textures which underscore this track helped to create an immersive sense of ambience, which drew me in further.
This EP also features four different remixes of “Luzoba” by Ben Rama, Flembaz, Zentrix, and Charife. Ben Rama’s remix is more toned back and chilled-out, incorporating his signature percussion sound. The Flembaz mix is even more minimal, and adds spooky, off-kilter sounds and aggressive synths. Zentrix uses the most sparse drum groove of all, while also throwing down a killer psy bass line, making for a really unique sound. Last but certainly not least is Charife with a fun, bouncy techno feel that balances out the rest of the EP, which tends to be a bit darker in tone.
Overall, two great originals from Trilingo, and four awesome and diverse remixes.
